These clients knew they wanted their house to look beautiful but didn’t know how to make it happen. Like many in the Bay Area, they couldn’t afford a bigger house, so we set out to make their limited square footage work for their young family.
With a custom storage wall, everything in the living room has a home. From markers and craft supplies for creative play to music speakers. There’s even a specially-designed pull out shelf for mom to dump her briefcase and purse when she comes home from work, so they don’t end up on the dining room table or chairs.
We repurposed vintage chairs and reupholstered them with natural latex and wool for healthy upholstery. This family loves color, so we leaned into texture and vibrancy in the upholstery fabrics, curtains, walls, the hand knotted Heriz rug, and the Eastern European wedding chest used as a coffee table — which also adds bonus storage.
We’ve continued working together on every project in their home since that living room, and I’ve loved watching their kids grow up.
“My husband and I knew we wanted to redecorate, but always got overwhelmed at the prospect. Kirsten started us out by helping us create an idea book, and then magically came up with a color palette and design style we loved.…
We’ve used her through the years to redecorate our living room, draw up a layout for a new bathroom, design a new family room, and draw up a set of wall shelves. We’ve recommended her to friends and they’ve all been happy.”
